Baron Marek II is the son of the previous baron, Marek I. Marek I was supposedly a great man who 'earned' the barony through his own skills, while Marek II only inherited the title. Two years ago (953 GD?) one of his sons, Marek III, much renowned within the Barony, died on a diplomatic mission with the eastern barbarian tribes. This occurred just a few months after Baron Marek II's wife died. Overcome with grief the Baron isolated himself from the populace. When he returned a couple of weeks later, he was a new man. Inspired and determined to regain the past glory of Kain, he began stirring the populace to war with Galefridus to the north, blaming them for the woes of the Barony. The citizens responded well to the Baron's new style, as his words mirrored the hearts of the people. Unknown to the populace however was one vital detail: the new baron was in fact a devil imposter.

The Disciples infiltrated the castle and defeated the minions of the devil, forcing him to flee. The Baron is now known to be dead, though it was blamed on Galefridish assassins. The involvement of the devil remains unknown to the inhabitants of Abel.

His son, Orekh, has succeeded him.
