Iryar's Fall

Iryar's Fall

Landmark Type Cliffs
-
Location Galefridus

These precarious cliffs overlooking Lake Aede mark the location where the war-hero Iryar fell in battle to the forces of Kain during the 812 GD Battle of Aede. A lone, dilapidated watchtower 50 feet high keeps silent vigil over the site.

When the Disciples of Dreth'Dor arrived at the tower in 953 GD while investigating the threat of the howlers in Woodbury, the wooden roof had collapsed, moss grew over the stones, and the shutters on the window were gone, either decayed or blown off by the wind. Rags remained of the flags and standards, and the door had fallen off the hinges and was nailed sideways to the frame, right into the stone wall. During their time in the tower, a load-bearing support pillar was knocked out and the internal structure of the tower collapsed. The remains were set aflame and all that remained was the still-standing stone exterior.

In 956 GD, Gavric forces began reconstruction of the tower.
